City of Kings Business Ventures was born and came into being in 2006. It is wholly-owned by the City of Bulawayo and is made up of the following business units:

OUR HISTORY
In the year 2000, Bulawayo City Council resolved to implement the recommendation of the Steering Committee on Privatization and Commercialization of Council's Core and Non-Core business activities. That resolution laid the foundation for the identification and setting up of some Entities into Strategic Business Units to be run as independent commercial undertakings. The idea was to create business management structures that are not under the bureaucratic “red tape” and committee approval systems of Council. Such management would thus be freed to concentrate on innovative and creative customer service and marketing activities and, at the end of the day, raise revenues that would cut costs on Council accounts over time... with the first prize being a healthy dividend declared at the end of each financial year.
